Pottery: the first semester

Pottery has been getting easier, not because I’m suddenly better, but because I know a little bit more about how clay works.
There’s still so much more to learn, like:
How fast does clay dry?
What’s the perfect stage of leather hard to trim at?
How big must my pot be for it to shrink to the right size?
How can I make a lid?
How can I make a teapot?!?!
What on earth is happening with the glazes inside the kiln?
But I do feel a little proud of myself, because I’ve learnt:
How to center clay
How to make a cylinder
How to make different shapes
How to smooth out the surface of the clay
How to trim feet into my pots
How to make pots that make me feel happy
I’ve finished my pottery class, but I’m still numbering my experiences. If this is only the first semester, surely there will be more in the future.
